They told me that if you make a so-called "risk" to ... But the loan is not already guaranteed by the Gov't?

  1. You need mortgage insurance if you don't put down 20% on your FHA purchase, but it's not called PMI (private mortgage insurance). PMI refers to mortgage insurance on conventional loans. Mortgage insurance on an FHA loan is just called "mortgage insurance," and it differs from PMI in a couple of ways.
